What This Tool Does
Our ISRC validator checks whether an ISRC code follows the correct ISRC format (ISO 3901) and breaks it down into its components:
- Country code — the 2-letter ISO country code identifying where the ISRC was assigned
- Registrant code — the 3-character code identifying the label, distributor, or entity
- Year of reference — the 2-digit year when the ISRC was assigned
- Designation code — the 5-digit sequential number assigned by the registrant
How to Search for an ISRC
If you're looking for the ISRC of a specific track, here are the best ways to find it:
1. Check Your Distributor
The most reliable source. Your distributor assigned the ISRC and stores it in your release details. Check DistroKid, CD Baby, TuneCore, or LANDR.
2. Check Streaming Platforms
Some platforms display ISRCs in track details. Spotify shows it in song credits, and Apple Music includes it in artist dashboards.
3. Use ISRC Databases
The IFPI maintains a global ISRC database at isrc.ifpi.org. Some national agencies also provide searchable databases for ISRCs assigned in their country.
4. Use Platform APIs
Both the Spotify Web API and Apple Music API return ISRC codes in track metadata, useful for developers and bulk lookups.
